It's hard to be humble with ancestors like mine!
The Narveson cousin reunion was a big success. There was a good turn out, and Ole and Lars have a real stronghold on the election now. The lunch was enjoyed by all. There were 14 door prizes given out. The Oberon school was open for anyone who wanted to tour it. A special thank you goes to Fay Huffman and Yvonne McDonald for there great music at the church. Noel sold 12 Narveson Family history Books. Twenty three decedents of Edmurl and Bethel Narveson were in attendance. Total attendance was about 42 or 43 people. The final account of the cost and donations is up to date as of July 12th 2008. I am going to close out the reunion account as of Aug. 1 2008, and send a check for the balance, to the Antelope Valley Church. The amount looks to be $75:00 as of July 22 2008.
Any extra money after costs will be donated to the Antelope Valley Lutheran Church. A full account of costs and donations will be made available to anyone who wants one contact me at narvesonreunion@excite.com. Or you can see a copy by clicking here

Oberon Oracles
by Ruth Buehler
A Narveson Cousins Reunion was held July 6th with about 40 people in attendance at the Antelope Valley Church. A program was presented with Larry Munson and Noel Narveson as masters of ceremonies. It consisted of mucical selections by Fay Huffman and Yvonne McDonald, a Narveson family history by Noel Narveson and an opportunity for members to relate family experiences and memories. Lunch was served at the Oberon Community Center. An amusing skit was presented by Lars (Larry Munson) and Ole (Noel Narveson). Many family members enjoyed touring the Oberon School.

Ole replied, "Vel Lars, Have you noticed dat Lena is kinda ugly. Dis vay I don't have to kiss her goodbye."
Lars asked Ole, "Do ya know da difference between a Norvegian and a canoe?"
"No, I don't, " said Ole.
"A canoe will sometimes tip, " explained Lars.
Norwegian Technology
After having dug to a depth of 10 meters last year, Scottish scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, British scientists dug to a depth of 20 meters, and shortly after, headlines in the UK newspapers read: "British archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the Scots."
One week later, "The Klub", a Sunburg, Minnesota newspaper reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 meters in corn fields near Games Lake, Ole Johnson, a self taught archeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. Ole has therefore concluded that 300 years ago Norwegians were already using wireless."
So der yu ar den !
So, Ole --- I see you got a sign up that says, "Boat For Sale." But you don't own a boat, Ole. All you got is your old John Deere tractor and your combine. "Yup, and they're boat for sale."
The Family Tree
I think that I shall never see
The finish of a family tree.
As it forever seems to grow
From roots that started long ago
Way back in ancient history times,
In foreign land and distant climes.
From them grew trunk and branching limb,
That dated back to times so dim.
One seldom knows exactly when
The parents met and married then,
Nor when the twigs began to grow
With odd named children row on row …
Though verse like this is made by me,
The end’s in sight as you can see.
"Tis not the same with family trees
that grow and grow through centuries!
